The Constitution and Bylaws as amended by the Thirty-first General Synod

On July 2 & 3, 2017 the Thirty-first General Synod of the United Church of Christ adopted amendments to the Constitution and Bylaws of the United Church of Christ. The amendments to the Constitution now await ratification by the Conferences of the United Church of Christ before they are declared in force. Those amendments to the Bylaws not related to a pending Constitutional amendment are now in effect. Those Bylaw amendments related to a pending Constitutional amendment will be declared in force upon Conference ratification of the Constitution.

These versions of the Constitution and Bylaws allow for the reading of both the existing documents and the wording upon Conference ratification; blue underlined text is new language, text in red with a strikethrough is language that will be deleted upon Conference ratification.

Those Bylaw amendments not related to a Constitutional amendment have been incorporated into the normal text of the Bylaws, as they are now in force.

Conference ratification could occur as soon as the spring of 2018 at which time the Board of Directors will declare the amended documents in force.
